Christmas Carol Concert

Held by many property professionals to mark the start of Christmas, our 2018 Carol Concert took place on Wednesday 19th December at St Cuthbert's Parish Church followed by Lunch at the EICC. This year we were entertained by the Edinburgh Academy Junior School Choir and for the fourth year running all the Readings in the Church were delivered by the children, each of whom was fantastic. Our musical interlude was performed by a quartet of Edinburgh Academy Junior School pupils, namely Milli Mitchell, Orlando Bruce, Kirsty Htet-Khin and Tom Jarrold, who provided us with a fantastic rendition of I Wonder as I Wander. We too were delighted to be so warmly welcomed by St Cuthbert’s Minister, Peter Sutton, however a notable absence was SPIFOX Chaplain, David Denniston who is presently on sabbatical; we do however hope to welcome him back to the SPIFOX fold and, of course, to receive his continued spiritual guidance in 2019.

For the sixth year in succession the Lunch took place in the EICC's Lennox Suite and where we surpassed the previous year's record attendance by seating 1602 guests. Despite this huge increase in seating capacity we sold out in under an hour resulting in a very long waiting list. We remain, again, the largest Charity Lunch held in the UK.

2018 witnessed a bid to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Most people simultaneously waving foam fingers’ – perhaps not the fairy lights of 2017 but given their biodegradable nature – or lack thereof – we are confident that these digits will subsist long into the future!

As each year passes, the generosity of the property industry continues to be a source of inspiration and 2018 was no exception. Monies raised in December exceeded £330,000 – a truly awesome result! These monies will benefit our 3 principal beneficiaries being Team Jak, North Edinburgh Arts and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Additionally, the fabulous total will allow us to make a significant number of small donations to less well known, but equally deserving, Charities.

Please note that our 2019 event will be held on Wednesday 18th December, further information and the booking form will be available to download at the beginning of October.
